The New England Patriots have had a very quiet offseason thus far. They have not made any big splashes in free agency at this point. They brought in free agent WR Chris Hogan who was with the Bills. They also brought in OLB Ramon Humber from the Saints, which does not fill any real needs, as Humber has not proven himself to be a playmaker in the NFL. They did re-sign DB Nate Ebner, which is a smart move, but he is not a huge playmaker either, he is more of a role player. They lost SS Tavon Wilson to the Detroit Lions, which does not help their secondary in any way and lost LB Jerod Mayo to retirement, which is a blow to their front seven. They have a large number of free agents they need to look at re-signing or letting go, including RB LeGarrette Blount, LB Darius Fleming, LB Dane Fletcher, WR Brandon LaFell, and TE Scott Chandler. To this point I am very surprised Bill Bellichick and Robert Kraft have not dipped into the free agent pool to try to bring in more help for Tom Brady, the offense, and defense. The Patriots need to make some moves to get better, or they will again, fail to make it to the Super Bowl.
